Cancer Cure Early Stage Research Training

CANCURE is a prestigious four year project funded by the European Commission that brings together 11 leading research groups from 7 European countries for a multidisciplinary, translational cancer research project focussed on cancer of the prostate. These well funded positions provide a unique opportunity for students to acquire a broad skill base in cancer research.

The aim of the project is to investigate the mechanisms by which prostate cancer cells become resistant to hormonal treatment and metastasise to the bone.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Aberrant signal transduction pathways in cancer cells
• Identification and validation of novel cancer targets
• In vitro and in vivo model systems and their application to therapies

Positions are available for early stage researchers (researchers with 0-4 years postgraduate research experience and who do not have a PhD) to work in the laboratories of the CANCURE partners.

CANCURE will recruit 11 PhD students at eleven research institutions across seven European countries. The hosts are Newcastle University, United Kingdom; Centre Europeen de Recherche en Biologie et en Medicine, France; Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH, Germany; University of Bern, Switzerland; Cambridge University, United Kingdom; Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Netherlands; York University, United Kingdom; Innsbruck University, Austria; Sheffield University, United Kingdom; University of Tampere, Finland; Erasmus Medical Centre, Netherlands.

Yours Sincerely

Prof. Craig Robson (CANCURE co-ordinator and Professor of Molecular Urology)
